The material appears to be Jet. Jet is a coal that comes from pine trees formed over millions of years.
Jet is said to bear healing powers for headaches, tumors and epilepsy. As well as protection from the evil eye.
This item looks to circa early 1800´s. great condition with no chips. measures 1 7/8 x 1/2 inch.
